Today, both adults and kids can wear braces. If you are an adult, you can get your teeth straightened using clear aligners, such as Invisalign, ceramic, tooth-colored braces, or braces that fit on the back of the teeth, called lingual braces.
Invisalign Aligners
Invisalign aligners are a great option for teens or adults, as you really cannot see them. These clear plastic aligners can be switched out every few weeks as they straighten your teeth. Because the aligners are removable, you can brush your teeth or eat food without the aligners in your mouth. However, you do need to keep the plastic straighteners in your mouth the rest of the time to realize optimum straightening or bite improvement.
Ceramic Braces
While it usually takes longer to straighten the teeth with ceramic braces than it does metal braces, you do not have to worry about their appearance. Ceramic braces allow you to wear braces without your mouth looking like it is full of metal. The braces are also more fragile, so you have to exert more care when brushing and flossing.
Lingual Braces
Lingual Braces are placed on the back of the teeth. Therefore, this form of dental straightening really can be applied totally without notice. Given the preceding options, both patients and kids can get their teeth straightened or their bite corrected - good for both the appearance and oral health. While not everyone can wear Invisalign or get ceramic or lingual braces, these orthodontic therapies do provide ways to straighten the teeth without notice. The treatment that you eventually will receive will depend on your current bite or straightening needs. Everybody is different. Therefore, you will need to schedule a consultation before you make a decision.
